Discover Your Inner Architect (ages 15+)
INSTRUCTOR: Robinson Cohen

10 WEEK CLASS
Students will first design their architectural creations on paper through various sketches. Then students create plans for the building’s structure on grid paper. Using cardboard and hot glue guns, they will construct their 3-D piece. Finally, students will paint and make sculptures for their surrounding landscapes, possibly working together to create a larger scene.

Digital Personal Projects & Portfolio Development

This class is designed for serious photography and digital multimedia students who are developing portfolios for admission to college or who are interested in working on independent projects with the hopes/dreams of exhibiting, publishing or creating/improving an online presence. Personalized instruction and mentoring will be the focus of class, with an emphasis on improving each student’s Photoshop® skills. Brainstorming and group discussions will encourage and open class environment. By the completion of this course, each student will have a cohesive and organized body of work that demonstrates consistency and quality of vision. The entire CS production suite will be available as well as iLife®, including iDVD® and iMovie®.

Pump Up Your Sneakers!

You’ve seen customized sneakers on your favorite media stars—now you can create your own. Taught by Amanda Yoakum, the founder of Yoa Kustoms, this class will introduce the very popular and creative art of sneaker customization to students. Each student will design and paint a one-of-a-kind pair of sneakers that reflects his or her unique personality and point of view. Students will learn to create a wearable, fine arts design by using the sneaker as their silhouette. Request a materials list.

The Fine Art of Graffiti

Graffiti is an under-appreciated form of art. With its bold use of color and design, graffiti has a lot to teach aspiring artists. In this class, students will learn lettering techniques, light and shadow concepts, and other painting methods. Working with paint markers and pencil first, students will build up to a graffiti-style painting on canvas. All materials included.

Figures in Action

8 WEEK CLASS
This is a Level II figure drawing class taught with a modern theme of athletics. From soccer to ballet, and baseball to mixed martial arts, a variety of sporting disciplines will be explored. Students will examine and learn how to draw the human body in various poses, reflecting the sport of their choice. The end of the semester will result in a number of freestyle sketches and one complete piece. Prerequisite: Basic drawing skills are necessary in order to fully acquire the information given in this class.

Fashion Design & Illustration

The exciting world of fashion will be brought to life in this class. Fashion illustration, the communication of fashion through drawing, will be explored by drawing from a live model, which teaches students the proportions of the figure, as well as how to drape fabric and accessories on a body. Portfolio Development

Portfolio Development will teach students how to present and photograph art, as well as develop a strong and diverse portfolio. Discussions about particular schools, majors and outlets/jobs in the art field will be included. Students will also create fully rendered drawings in graphite and charcoal with texture and three-dimensionality.
