10 Week Class This class is designed for serious photography and digital multimedia students who are developing portfolios for admission to college or who are interested in working on independent projects with the hopes/dreams of exhibiting, publishing or creating/improving an online presence. Personalized instruction and mentoring will be the focus of the class, with an emphasis on Photoshop® techniques. Group discussions and feedback will also take place each week with brainstorming, as opposed to critique, being the goal. By the completion of this course, each student will have a cohesive and organized body of work that demonstrates consistency, quality and vision. |

10 Week Class This course will spend five weeks on fashion illustration, followed by five weeks of fashion design. Fashion illustration, which is the communication of fashion in drawing, will focus on drawing from a live model in order to understand the proportions of the figure, as well as the drapery of the fabric and accessories on a body. With this as a background, students will then move into design projects working from the inspiration to the final stages of a finished collection of several looks in illustration form. The class will focus on women’s, children’s or men’s wear in various seasons. |

Observation and exercises using color and monochromatic colors with still life, figure, portraits and perspective will be experimented with and explored, in addition to rendering form with light/shadow in all black and white media. Light and shadow, value and shading, and methods to create representational three-dimensional spaces are investigated in a variety of materials and techniques. 10 Week Class Students will work in groups to jointly create a short film (5 to 10 minutes in duration). All students will participate in each phase of production and will collaborate on the final cut. The emphasis of the project will be on the pre-planning and editorial processes of creating a film. 10 Week Class Portfolio Development will address how to present and photograph art, as well as develop a strong and diverse portfolio. Discussions about particular schools, majors and outlets/jobs in the art field will be included. Students will also learn about direct observation of still lifes, light and shadow, and form to create fully rendered drawings in graphite and charcoal with texture and three-dimensionality. The class will cover strong understanding of the figure, anatomy, gestures and proportion, in addition to 1, 2, 3 & 4-point perspective and proper understanding of facial measurements and tonal variations to form three dimensional features.
