Director of Development
Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit, the states pre-eminent Studio School and center for the exhibition of contemporary art, seeks an experienced, highly motivated, innovative Director of Development & Marketing.
Responsibilities include providing leadership in raising contributed revenue through government grants, foundation support, corporate sponsorship and membership, individual giving and special events, in addition to all marketing and communication activities. The Director of Development and Marketing is also responsible for managing annual budgets for the Department and identifying and developing relationships with prospective individual, foundation and corporate donors.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years fundraising and marketing experience, demonstrated ability to think strategically, and have strong communication and writing skills. Excellent organizational and management skills, as well as a successful track record in major giving, is also required.
The Director of Development and Marketing oversees a staff of three, reports directly to the Executive Director, and also works in collaboration with the senior management team and the Board of Trustees. Knowledge of the visual arts and the operations of a not-for-profit arts organization is preferred.
