Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
 Monday, January 19, 2009 9:30am - 11:00am Free Event, Ages 4 and up
No RSVP required
The Art Center will host a free children's art event for Summit's Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. This year's theme, "Spotlight on Cultural Heritage of Summit," celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds of our community. Children will create a self-portrait and share symbols of their cultural heritage. These elements will be incorporated into a 3-D mural to be rotated around town and then installed in a permanent location in Summit. To participate: Bring fragments of traditional fabric and pictures (of your favorite cultural foods, a historical landmark or a key figure/hero) depicting your home country. Come prepared with your home language translation of the words: peace, love, hope, friendship, charity and equality.
