SPRING WINE TASTING EVENT

The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will host a Spring Wine Tasting on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in partnership with Master of Wine, Christopher Cree, owner of 56 Degree Wine in Bernardsville.

The wine tasting will feature a selection of wines focusing on small, family-owned growers whose philosophy is that great wine is made in the vineyard. These artisan wines are undiscovered and remain affordable. Prior to the tasting, Chris Cree will hold a special one-hour seminar on artisan wine methods and practices featuring an especially selected wine flight. 56degreewine.com

HEMINGWAY'S CUBAN SON
Join us for a presentation and book signing by Raúl Villarreal, Fine Artist and Co-author of Hemingway's Cuban Son-Reflections on the Writer by His Longtime Majordomo. Prepare to be transfixed by the story of the author's father -a poor young Cuban boy who grew up to be a friend and confidant of Ernest Hemingway and his family. Clear recollections of humorous escapades and adventures with Hemmingway as well as insightful comments about Cuba before and after the revolution make for a fascinating and compelling story. Lecture is part of the Thursday Evening Salon Series.

Images: The Bare Walls Event
On Friday, June 12, 2009 the Art Center is hosting a vital fundraiser to support our outreach programs called Images: The Bare Walls Event. This will not be a formal gala, but a whimsical, creative, and casual celebration! We will also honor Judy and Larry Cohen with the Legacy Award in recognition of their dedication and generous support of the Art Center over the years. Given the difficult economic climate, we plan to keep expenses to a minimum in order to apply as much income as possible to our outreach programs and their participants. Thank you for helping us continue to enrich the lives of our most vulnerable community members.
