Collage, Drawing & Painting
INSTRUCTOR: Block

Utilize natural playfulness to approach the formal elements of drawing and 2D design. Course emphasizes sharpening drawing and observational skills, color theory, and organizing strong compositions with movement and balance. Media: pencil, watercolor, tempera, and collage (magazine and assorted paper).

Ceramic Art (ages 10 - 15)
INSTRUCTOR: Bedoya
Saturday(s), 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Gain a good foundation for throwing on the wheel, focusing on centering and pulling up the clay. Hand building techniques such as slab, pinch, and sculpture will also be covered. Creativity and exploration is encouraged. Finishing techniques such as glazing and texturing also explored.

Creative expression in drawing and painting constitute the core curriculum of this course with three dimensional projects included, if warranted by class interest. Group and individual instruction in basic skills; line, color, space, light, texture and pattern. Gallery tours reinforce concepts. Occasional work outdoors, weather permitting. All levels welcome.

Introduction to Sculpture (age 6 - 9)
INSTRUCTOR: Bedoya
Wednesday(s), 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
This course is designed for the youngins. Come learn to work with clay! Sculptures will be fired and glazed. There will be 3 separate projects for this course. Come and explore and play! Other mediums will be considered, ie styrofoam or wood. Bring a smock and your imagination!

Have the super powers of Wonder Woman? Now you can! Create your own superhero and design and write your own comic book! Learn how to plan, draft, draw and color to get your comic book ready to " publish". Take home color copies of your comic book to share with family and friends.

Introduction to Painting (ages 8 - 12)
INSTRUCTOR: Block

Students will create balanced dynamic compositions employing the elements of design – repeated forms, patterning, tonal and color variation, contrast, positive and negative space. Students will use photo reference, still lifes as well as their own creativity to respond to a variety of themes and subjects. All work will be completed in acrylics. Request a materials list.

Working in a painting medium the student feels most comfortable in, this intermediate course travels deeper into the world of painting. Working from still life, photographs, and models, the student will have a true understanding of how to mix colors and place certain elements next to each other to achieve a realistic feel. Different eras of art will be discussed such as the renaissance, impressionism, and modern art to show how paint can be applied in several ways. Individual styles will be encouraged! Intermediate level. Request a materials list. This class runs for 10 weeks.
